SEARSPORT -- Roland H. Bragdon Sr., 74, died May 26, 1987, at a Belfast health-care facility. He was born in Portage, June 11, 1912, the son of Ernest and Mary (Soucie) Bragdon. He was a member of the Comet Grange, Swanville, the special police for the Belfast Police Department, and had been a volunteer firefighter for the Belfast Fire Department for many years. He had served as dogcatcher for the Humane Society for many years. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Carson) Bragdon of Searsport; two sons, Roland Jr. of Rumford and Stephen of Swanville; five daughters, Caroline Cook of Brooks, Sylvia Thompson of Bangor, Rosemary Gerren of Thorndike, Janice Doolan of California and Joyce Bartlett of Searsmont; two brothers, Lorenzo Bragdon of Gardiner and Rodney Bragdon of Bangor; one sister, Irene McIntire of Texas; 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, severa nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Gordon Bragdon, Emery Bragdon and Miles Bragdon; one sister, Margaret Burpee. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, Belfast, with the Rev. Lewis Cushman of the Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in East Thorndike Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rackliffe Funeral Home, Belfast, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
