WEST BROOKFIELD Richard W. White of 69 Lakeview Ave., died on Monday, November 21, 2005, at the University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after being stricken ill at work.
He leaves his daughter, Carolyn J. Pluff and her husband, Edward R. Pluff III, of Auburn; his 2 grandchildren: Evan M. Pluff and Ellie J. Pluff, both of Auburn; his sister, Eleanor P. Gaulin and her husband, Nestor J.R. Gaulin of Millbury; his brother, Ace K. White of Millbury, 2 goddaughters: his niece, Kim M. Lauder of Millbury, and Brenda I. LaRiviere of Oxford; and 2 nephews: Mark N. Gaulin of Long Beach, CA, and Devin D. Gaulin of Millbury. He was born in Worcester on April 27, 1943, a son of the late William and Eleanor (Lesczynski) White, and was raised in Millbury. He then lived in Grafton and Worcester before moving to West Brookfield in 1987. He was a 1961 graduate of Millbury Memorial High School. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War; he served in Okinawa before being discharged with the rank of corporal. He later served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and held the rank of sergeant when he completed his service after several years.
Dick was a forklift operator at Saint Gobain Norton Industrial Ceramic Corporation, Worcester, where he had worked for 37 years. He had been a member of the Rescue Squad of the West Brookfield Fire Department for many years. He also was a member of the United Auto Worker's Union, the American Legion, and the National Rifle Association, and a former member of St. Brigid Catholic Parish, Millbury, and St. James Catholic Parish, South Grafton.
Dick's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A visiting hour is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, in the funeral home. Dick was a very giving person who contributed to many charitable causes. Accordingly, his family requests that flowers be omitted. Donations in his memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas TX 75244.
