• Obituary: Bangor Daily News, 16 Mar 2004, Bangor, ME. DOUGLAS ALLEN RICH UNITY -- Douglas Allen Rich, 37, died unexpectedly at his home due to a tragic accident on Sunday, March 14, 2004, in Unity. He was born on Dec. 26, 1966, in Bangor, the son of Douglas Neil Rich and Jane Ellen (Braley) Peterson. Doug was a graduate of Mt. View High School, Class of 1985. He was active with the school playing baseball and basketball. In 1985, he entered the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1987. On March 5, 1993, the love of his life was born BreAnn Lee Rich. Doug loved to spend all time possible with her. Doug will be sadly missed by her. For the last two years, he was employed as a supervisor for the second shift by the Penobscot Frozen Food in Belfast. Doug was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Red Sox, stockcar racing with Dale Earnhart Sr. as his favorite driver. He also enjoyed playing golf. Doug was the main attraction at get-together's with friends and family. He loved to make people laugh. He could make a joke out of anything. He had a great sense of humor. He was predeceased by a son, Derek Douglas Rich, on Aug. 19, 1991; his father, Douglas Neil Rich, on July 1, 1999; his maternal grandmother, Beulah M. Braley; paternal grandfather, Douglas Neil Rich Sr.; and his aunt, Sue Ann. Survivors include his daughter and love of his life, BreAnn Lee Rich of Unity; his mother, Jane E. Peterson of Burham; his companion and fiance of 12 years, Brandy Lee Raven of Unity; his brother, Joseph "Joe" Rich and his wife, Cindy, of Newport; his two sisters, Julie A. Rich of Unity, and Penny L. Fitch and her companion, Steve, of Unity; maternal grandfather, Wendell B. Braley Sr. of Burnham; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Rich of Bangor; his aunts and uncles, Mary and Freeman II, Elaine and Buddy, Jody and Debbie, Jonathan, Timmy and Heather, Wink and Cheryl, Jimmy, Matthew and Ellen, James and Charlene, and Ronnie and Dee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and will be missed by all. Visiting hours will be held 12-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Lawry Brothers Memorial and Remembrance Centre (Unity Centre for the Performing Arts) 42 Depot St., Unity, where the funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the[sic] Gene Dumas officiating. A gathering will be held following the service in the banquet hall at the Centre. Burial will be in the spring at Pond Cemetery, Unity.
