Salvatore Frank Gulisano, 91, a 30 year resident of Marco Island. He graduated from Dwight Prep School in Manhattan and attended Georgetown University. He received his Civil Engineering Degree from St. Bonaventure's College, St. Bonaventure, NY in 1932.
 Employed by New York City borough of roads and parks until he was called into service by the Army Corps of Engineers just prior to World War II. He was given the rank of major and served in Africa building roads and air strips.
 After the war he returned to private business in New York, but the lure of Africa was too strong and he returned and set up his own construction company, H.A. Taylor Engineering Associate Ltd., based in Asmara, Ethiopia. He remained in Africa and the Middle East for 30 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Marco Island and San Marco Catholic Church.
 Salvatore is survived by his wife of 34 years, Eleanor Scott Gulisano; two sisters, Libby Lombardi of New Hyde Park, NY and Josephine Scotti of Staten Island, NY; and nieces and nephews.
 A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at San Marco Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.
 Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Brewer, ME.
 In lieu of flowers, donations in Salvatore's name may be made to Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 or to San Marco Catholic Church.
 
 Salvatore married Eleanor Raven Scott, daughter of Byron Burr Scott Sr. and Lila Alta Raven, in 1969 in Gibraltar. (Eleanor Raven Scott was born on 18 Aug 1928 in Brewer, Penobscot, Maine, United States, died on 7 May 2013 in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer, Penobscot, Maine, United States.)
