TROY -- Norman R. Bishop Jr., 72, of Troy passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Inland Hospital in Waterville following a long battle with cancer.
Norman was born Aug. 3, 1940, the son of Norman R. Bishop Sr. and Lillian T. (Pease) Bishop of Troy.
Over the years Norman had been employed as a woodcutter, farmhand and carpenter.
Norman enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, picture puzzles and building miscellaneous items.
Norman was predeceased by his father, Norman R. Bishop Sr.; his sister, Edna (Bishop) Woodward; and his brother, Roger Bishop.
Norman is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol (Raven) Bishop of Troy; his mother, Lillian Bishop of Troy; his stepson, Pat Violette and his companion Mary Wisner, of Utica, NY; his brother, Ralph Bishop, and his wife, Marie (Sylvester), of Troy; his brother, Earl Bishop, and his wife, Susan (Shibles), of Athens; his sister-in-law, Thelma (Sylvester) Bishop, of Unity; his brother, Eugene "Gene" Bishop and his wife, Sylvia (Pelton), of Windsor; his sister, Sadie (Bishop) Philbrick, and her husband, Peter, of Thorndike; his brother-in-law, Kenney Raven, of Norridgewock; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.

Norman married Carol Louise Raven, daughter of Herman Beecher Raven and Zelma Louise Gardner. (Carol Louise Raven was born on 13 Feb 1939 in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States, died on 6 Apr 2013 and was buried in Rogers Cemetery, Troy, Waldo, Maine, United States.)
