Robert James Burbank, age 79, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at Hospice House of Rutherford County, with his loving wife at his side.
He was born October 16, 1935 in Bangor, Maine to the late Fred Burbank and Phyllis Haley Burbank. Mr. Burbank was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Mortician for most of his life until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Burbank are his beloved wife of 33 years, Ima Jackson Burbank of the home; two daughters, Sonia Nichols of Sanford, Maine and Pamela Sullivan and husband, Lou of Lisbon Falls, Maine; three step-children, Julie Bell and husband, Michael of Lake Adger, NC, Randy Littlefield of Berwick, Maine and Chris Littlefield and wife, Michelle of Sanford, Maine; one brother, Harold Burbank and wife, June of Kennebunk, Maine; one sister, Bette Smith and husband, Russ of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; one brother-in-law, Dr. Larry Bailey of Harpswell, Maine; eight grandchildren, Cody Nichols, Mindy Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Rebekah Robson, Nathaniel Robert Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, Cassidy Sullivan and Katrina Sullivan; and one great-grandson, Oliver Robson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church on Chimney Rock Road in Rutherfordton, NC.
An additional Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Carll Heald & Black Funeral Home in Sanford, Maine with burial to follow at the VA Cemetery in Springville, Maine.
