Veazie - David Francis Young, 69, passed away Nov. 1, 2018. He was born in Fort Fairfield on January 30, 1949, the son of Winston and Florence (Hechler) Young.
David was a graduate of Limestone High School. He received his BA degree in Political Science from the University of Maine in 1972. After graduating, he worked as a financial advisor for 45 years. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Penobscot Valley Country Club. David was a past president of PVCC. He and his wife, Mary, spent winters in Largo, Florida where they enjoyed the water and beaches. David enjoyed working outside on his flower gardens, where he built several rock walls. He liked a good cigar while watching the horse races. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his luck on a "hard ten."
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Young of Veazie; his stepdaughter, Heather Friedman of Veazie; his grandchildren, Ella, and Lauren, who were the apple of his eye. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Young of Sheridan, WY, Christopher Young and fiancée, April of Danforth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and James Boober of Glenburn; and many nieces and nephews, and friends. David was predeceased by his parents.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 10 a.m. Monday Nov. 5, 2018 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor. A private burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
