Obituary: Press Republican, 25 May 2008, Plattsburgh, NY. MOUNT DORA, FLA. -- Jacqueline (Jackie) Gravelle Vanderhoof, 68, of Mount Dora, Fla., passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Sumter Hospice in Tavares, Fla. She was born May 31, 1939, to the late Royal and Alverta Gravelle at a mid-wives house in Cheever, N.Y. Jackie worked at Essex County DSS for 20 years and retired in 1996, where she was president of the local CSEA for many years. After her retirement, she worked for the ARC in Port Henry, N.Y., and at the time of her death she worked for the "Visiting Angels" caring for Alzheimer's patients. Jackie is survived by her partner of 40 years, Edward Butch' Thompson, also of Mount Dora; and her sister, Alveda Verdicchio of Schenectady, N.Y. She was the loving mother of two daughters, Vicki Tyler and Rebeccah Thompson; and three sons, Michael, Daniel and Peter Vanderhoof. She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Katie, Melissa, Nicholas, Christopher, Elizabeth, Mallory, Zachary, Ben, Devlin, Sierra and William; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter J. Vanderhoof; Gene Gravelle; and a granddaughter, Heather Ann Vanderhoof. A memorial service will be held at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Port Henry at the convenience of the family, to be followed by a graveside service at the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
