The Colbys were operating a convalescent home out of their home on Daniel Webster Highway (U.S. Route 3) and had 4 patients and a handyman living there.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and all the foster children she cared for over the years. They were a delight and joy to her. She enjoyed working in her garden and loved flowers. Marlene had a heart of gold and was always helping someone in need. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. She is survived by her husband, John Heaton; son, Denver England; daughters, Debbie Shellhase (Dustin), Donna England and Rebecca Heaton; granddaughters, Ashlee and Julianne; and grandsons, Raymond and Bobby; and 15 great grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, 6846 Short Lane, Gloucester, VA. Inurnment will be private.
