UNITY -- Bradley A. Mitchell, 56, of Unity passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1955, the son of Kenton A. and Wyona June (Larrabee) Mitchell.
Brad was a graduate of Mount View High School in Thorndike, class of 1971. He lived in Unity his entire life and was employed at numerous farms in the area. Brad also worked at Ingraham Equipment. He was most recently employed by Quaker Hill Farm in Unity.
He faced many challenges in his life. He was legally blind because of to a genetic disease known as retinitis pigmentosa, which left him with only 20 percent vision. He was much more comfortable navigating at night. The sun blinded him, so he wore special glasses during the day.
Brad especially enjoyed his family, close friends, a game of cribbage, sitting on a neighbor's porch shooting the breeze, a good macaroni and cheese, but especially four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Come day or night, summer or winter, Brad could be seen or heard riding over "hill and dale," and through the woods happy as could be. Brad always had a sincere greeting and would leave you with a "catchcha later." To Mom, Dad, Karen, Robert, Skyler, family and friends, I will "catchcha later." Brad was extremely helpful to his family and neighbors, always willing and cheerful.
He was predeceased by two children, Heather Mae Mitchell and Jennifer Lynn Mitchell; and his aunts and uncles, Richard and Roger Mitchell, Denby and Geneva Larrabee, Chapman Larrabee and Donald Spaulding.
Bradley will be sadly missed by his parents, of Unity; his children, Karen Mitchell of Unity, Robert Mitchell of Troy and Skyler Mitchell of Burnham; his brother, Randall Mitchell, and his wife, Debbie, of Florida; his grandchildren, Si Reynolds of Unity and Gaven Mitchell of Troy; his niece, Randy Lynn Mitchell of Lewiston; his nephews, Bobby Mitchell of Belfast and Nicholas Mitchell of Florida; his aunts and uncles, Marjorie Larrabee of Knox, Wynona Spaulding of Knox, Mable Larrabee of Thorndike, Hurley and Kay Larrabee of Thorndike, Kathleen Mendelson of Connecticut, Cornelius and Nan Larrabee of Connecticut, and Ann Mitchell of Troy.
