REV. CARLTON L. WHITTAKER SR.
PRESQUE ISLE -- Rev. Carlton L. Whittaker Sr., 81, died Feb. 16, 2003, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1921, the son of Elmer and Laura (Henderson) Whittaker.
He attended the Church of Jesus in Presque Isle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the engineer combat battalion. The Rev. Whittaker was pastor of the Monticello Apostolic Church for 31 years. He also did evangelistic work pastoring in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia extensively. He was employed by the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carlene (Gordon) Whittaker of Presque Isle; a son, Carlton Whittaker, Jr., of Masardis; a daughter, Laura May Putnam and her husband, Tim, of Richmond; three stepsons, Bruce, Allen and Mark; two grandsons, Timothy Putnam Jr., Wade Whittaker; four great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Frank and Elmer Whittaker, both of Presque Isle; and a sister, Dorothy Moore of Dover-Foxcroft. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jessie and a granddaughter, Michelle Belyea.
Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Church of Jesus, 153 Chapman St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Brother Earl Durost, the Rev. Brother Harold Fulton and the Rev. Brother Glen Mean officiating. Spring interment will be in Marshall Cemetery, Westfield. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Church of Jesus, 153 Chapman St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
Carlton married Carlene Ida Gordon, daughter of Walter Carl Gordon Sr. and Bernice Eloise Merry, on 20 Nov 1993 in Maine, United States.
