Marcy O'Clair Whipple passed away unexpectedly June 16, 2022 at the young age of 47.
Marcy was born to James O'Clair and Marilyn Carney Hanley in Presque Isle, Maine on October 28, 1974. She graduated Ashland High School class of 1993 and went on to get her degree in Business at Northern Maine Community college.
Marcy married Robbin Whipple of Masardis, Maine in 1996 and lived in Ashland, Maine. They went on to have a beautiful daughter Amanda Whipple. As life can go, they were later divorced and sometime after she met her best friend, love of her life and partner in crime Kirby Cunningham. They lived in Bangor, Maine where they built a beautiful home that housed many friends and family over the years.
Marcy started her career at S.W. Collins Co. in Caribou, Maine, kickstarting more than 20 years in kitchen and bath design. Most recently she worked at Anchor Design in Bangor, Maine growing her passion to give her clients perfect results helping them make their house a home. Marcy was known for her talent as a designer, with a keen eye for detail. She excelled in her field and was passionate about her work. She made friends easily and earned the respect of so many of her peers.
When she wasn't at work, she enjoyed gardening, reading, antiquing, decorating and redecorating her home, and music. Marcy loved her home and had a knack for decorating; the spaces she designed could easily have been on the cover of any home décor magazine. She enjoyed time with friends and loved hosting get togethers at her home, but more than anything she enjoyed and loved her family.
Marcy was smart, talented, creative and fun-loving. She had a smile that could light up any room, a laugh that was contagious, and a passion for life like no other. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. People were drawn to Marcy; she had a way of making everyone she met her friend from the first hello. She was giving, caring and a selfless soul. Marcy will be missed by so many.
Marcy is survived by her fiancé and best friend Kirby Cunningham, his daughter Kerri, his son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Keyleigh along with their daughter Maya who referred to Marcy affectionately as "my Gigi"; her beautiful daughter Amanda Whipple and her boyfriend Otis Nelson; mother and father Marilyn and Timothy Hanley; father James O'Clair; sister and brother-in-law Robin and Parker Drake and her three children Tamlin Soucy, Ashlyn and Cailey Aucoin; sister and brother-in-law Jamie and David Sanders and her two daughters Tricia and Ava Cyr; brother Felix O'Clair; nephews Eric and Jason Cunningham; nephews David and Jonathan Cunningham; niece Rachel Cunningham Axsom; nieces Kami Ekstrom and Krist Farren; niece Katie Putnam; great niece Chloe Putnam and her beloved dog Zoey, as well as extended family, friends, coworkers, and others she touched in her short life, who loved her dearly and helped her become the person she was.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Gilbert and Emelda Carney; paternal grandparents Felix and Salina O'Clair; bonus grandparents Alan and Doris Hanley; paternal aunts Anne O'Clair and Mary "Betty" O'Clair Gerow and paternal uncle Donald O'Clair.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 25th at 11:30 in Masardis, Maine with a celebration of life following from 1:00 - 3:00 at Dean's Motor Lodge in Portage, Maine. We welcome all friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances to attend both events and share in stories and wonderful memories of Marcy. In lieu of sending flowers, the family would like you to consider planting a tree or flowers in memory of Marcy to keep her memory alive and continue making this world a more beautiful place.
