• Obituary: Bangor Daily News, 7 Nov 1995, Bangor, ME. MR. RAYNOLD R. HOLMES UNION -- Mr. Raynold R. Holmes, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 1995, at his home on Sennebec Road, Union. He was born Jan. 31, 1934, in Portage, the son of Raymond and Madeline (Bragdon) Holmes. Mr. Holmes was a graduate of Ashland High School, class of 1951. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Maine in Orono. Mr. Holmes was a self-employed site evaluator, land surveyor and licensed geologist. Mr. Holmes taught school in Appleton for two years, the high classes of 1962 and 1963. He was a former trustee of Peoples United Methodist Church in Union and a past master of the Union Lodge of Masons. Mr. Holmes was the secretary and treasurer of the Mid-Coast Chapter of the Maine Society of Land Surveyors. He was a former selectman and code enforcement officer for the town of Union. Mr. Holmes was previously scoutmaster for BSA Troop No. 207 and was active in Union Little League. He was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Holmes, in 1985. Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Donna (Larrabee) Holmes of Union; his parents, Raymond and Madeline Holmes of Portage; two sons, Matthew Holmes of Germany, U.S. Army and Aaron Holmes of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Rebekah Holmes of Union; sisters, Joan Satterfield of Bolivar, and Ms. Beth Bell of Dover-Foxcroft; brothers, Thomas Holmes of Portage and James Holmes of Winterport; granddaughter, Darian Holmes of Germany; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1995, at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, where a Masonic Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1995, at the Peoples United Methodist Church, Union, with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Union. Contributions may be made in Mr. Holmes memory to the Peoples United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 105, Union 04862 or to the Masonic Lodge No. 31, William Titus, Secretary, P.O. Box 930, Union 04862.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Union.
