• Obituary: Morning Sentinel, 16 Apr 2005, Waterville, ME. FAIRFIELD -- Matthew A. Reynolds, 13, of Fairfield passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a brief illness due to brain cancer. He was born on Dec. 2, 1991, in Falls Church, Va., the son of Kevin V. and Deborah (Fenimore) Reynolds. He was always an honor roll student. He was in the gifted and talented program in math and art. He received the President's Education Award in recognition of his outstanding academic excellence in 2004. He was invited to participate in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Program for excellence in 2004. He served as class representative on student councils several times. He was an accomplished musician, playing in the Lawrence Junior High School concert band and in the Lawrence High School marching band. He played the viola, bass guitar and percussion. He was a talented artist. Matthew was a member of the Boy Scouts since first grade, achieving First Class ranks; his ambition was to make Eagle Scout. He loved to play basketball, soccer and football. He loved snowmobiling and camping; he enjoyed reading, and building Lego with Star Wars themes. He loved reptiles, especially his Gecko, playing video games with his friends and loved helping people. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Deborah Reynolds of Fairfield; paternal grandparents Randal and Juanita Reynolds of Unity; maternal grandparents George and Betty Ann Fenimore of Front Royal, Va.; paternal great-grandmother Lila Bryant of Knox; maternal great-great-grandmother Ruth Tibbals of Woodstock, Va.; an uncle, Doug, and wife, Nanny, of Warrenton, Va.; two aunts, Pam Edwards and husband, Bill, of Sabattus and Cheryl Crummett and husband, Mark, of Whitefield; seven cousins, Danielle, Amber, Hannah, Georgi, Gilson, Damon and Taryn and his best friend, Nate Jameson, of Fairfield. He was predeceased by a sister, Michelle Elise, and maternal grandmother Dolores Fenimore. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, 61 Pleasant St., Waterville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, at the church with the Rev. Anna C. Beach officiating. Interment will be April 22 at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Va. Donations may be made in Matthew's memory to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018. Arrangements are under the direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
