• Obituary: Conway Daily Sun, 2 Oct 2013, North Conway, NH. Surrounded by family, Larry Wright passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2013 in Wheat Ridge, Colo. after a brief illness. He was born in Charlestown and raised on the family farm until his teens when he moved with his mother to Pittsfield, Mass. He attended Williams College, pursuing his love for skiing and the great outdoors. His amazing skiing ability brought him the opportunity to ski for the U.S. Olympic Team, however his dreams were dashed by an accident on the race course when his back was broken. After the accident, he traveled with many U.S. and foreign ski teams preparing their skis for competition. His deep passion and knowledge of skiing techniques allowed him to travel and ski all over the country working in ski shops, opening a few of his own, and becoming well-known as a master ski mechanic. A nomad at heart, he never stayed in one place for long. He landed in North Conway in 1976 working for many ski companies including Carroll Reed, Stan and Dan, and later, Bretton Woods. Off-season he became a licensed Maine Guide, a white-water rafting guide, land surveyor, and even a bicycle mechanic... he didn't stay indoors long. He was known for moving about the country \emdash which was great for his children as they got to ski in many popular areas from the east coast to west \emdash before he finally settled on a ranch in Laramie, Wyo. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence E and Marion F Wright. He is survived by his daughter, Charity Roy Leach and her husband, Tommy, and their daughter, Alexis, of Conway; a son, Justin Roy, of Albany, and his daughters, Harlee and Isabelle. He is also survived by his "significant other," Carolyn Coolidge, of Laramie, Wyo. and Jefferson as well as many dear friends near and far. Larry's family would like to invite his many friends to help them celebrate his life on Oct. 26 at the Conway American Legion from 3 to 7 p.m. You're invited to bring your favorite stories, share some food, and raise a glass to toast the life of this colorful man.
