BELFAST \emdash Faustina (Thompson) Merry, 94, of Belfast, passed away on April 11, 2026, after living in her own home all her 94 years. She was born in Belfast on November 23, 1931, to Elmer and Mary (Bowen) Thompson. She married Ervin Merry of Belfast on April 25, 1951.When mom left this world for a better place, the last thing she saw were the faces of her three children. She is now home with her Lord and Savior, and the love of her life, our dad.
Faustina loved life! She saw good and beauty in everything and everyone. She loved to go on rides with daddy, work in her flower gardens and she 'loved" to shop, mostly to visit with friends she would meet along the way. She babysat for many years for her grandchildren and many others, all of them calling her Grammy. She worked with her son, Jeff, at the Treasures and Trash Barn in Searsport for 26 years and was planning to again this spring.
Faustina is survived by her children, Judy (Gary) Arsenault, Jeff (Shirley) Merry and Valerie (Vernon) Nickerson. Also, her grandchildren Katie (Michael) Lee, Matthew (Ashley) Jackson, Brandi, Brodi, and Sadie Nickerson; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and her brothers, Edmund and Maynard Thompson.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2 p.m., at Faith Temple Church on Rt. 52 in Belfast.

Miss Faustina L. Thompson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Thomspon of Swanville, and Ervin E. Merry, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Merry Sr., of Smart Road, Belfast, were united in marriage Wednesday evening, April 25, at the Baptist parsonage in Belfast. The Rev. Z. Richard Henley read the double ring service.
The bride was attired in a gown of aqua frosted organdy with white accessories, and a corsage of sweet peas. Over her gown she wore a pink topper.
The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lear of Belfast. Mrs. Lear wore a rose gown, and a corsage of sweet peas.
The bride graduated from Crosby High School in the class of 1950, and is employed at the Belfast Shoe Company.
Mr. Merry is engaged in the broiler business with his father.
After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Merry left in their car for a week's honeymoon trip in Canada.
They will reside in Belfast, near his parents, where he has a new, small home ready to occupy upon their return. Present plans include a reception, date and place to be announced later.

A wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Ervin C. Merry (Faustina Thompson) was held at Comet Grange Hall Thursday evening, May 24.
In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Merry, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Merry Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Thompson. Clyde Nickerson and Mrs. Frances Taylor led the grand march, Ralph Taylor acted as master of ceremonies, and Mrs. Evelyn Nickerson was at the piano.
The bride and groom cut the traditional first slice of the wedding cake, which was later served by Mrs. Elmer Thompson, mother of the bride, who also had charge of the guest book. Others assisting in serving the refreshments of ice cream, cake and punch included Mrs. Hazel Moore, Mrs. Sally Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Taylor, Mrs. Daisy Roberts and her daughter, Mrs. Fred Floyd, and Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Thompson. Elijah Nickerson aided in other arrangements for the evening.
The many beautiful wedding gifts received were unwrapped by the bride with the assistance of her mother, and placed on display.
Between 50 and 60 guests were present, including friends, neighbors and relatives of the families of the bride and groom, although the inclement weather prevented a number from attending the event.
