WINTHROP - Linda E. Carson, 79, of Winthrop, died Sunday Dec. 30, 2018, at Maine General Medical Center, in Augusta.
She was born in Augusta, May 18, 1939, the daughter of William S. and G. Irene (Field) Folger. She grew up in Sidney, attending school there and later graduating from Cony High School. She worked at several doctor's offices before beginning her career with the State of Maine, which spanned over thirty years. Linda married Richard Carson Sr., July 30, 2000.
In her leisure time, Linda enjoyed playing beano, horse racing, video poker and travelling to Oxford Casino. She also liked feeding stray cats and the birds, and shopping for clothes, which she often returned.
Linda was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Barbara Folger and Madeline Folger Dostie.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Carson Sr.; her daughters, Bethany Lehning and her husband, Wayne, of Augusta and Joyce Stratton-Doyon, of Oakland; her stepchildren, Richard Carson Jr., of Winthrop, Philip Carson and his wife, Tiffany, of Augusta, Jeffrey Carson and his wife, Nicole, of North Monmouth, and Deborah Carson Beddoe, of Oakland; her sister, Arlene Fossett, of Augusta; brothers-in-law, Robert Carson and his wife, Jeanne, of San Diego, Charles Carson and his wife, Caroll, of Montville and Joseph Carson and his wife, Karen, of Thorndike, sisters-in-law, Carol Johnson, of Brooks, Gloria Lancaster, of Unity and Shirley Curtis and her husband, Jim, of Knox; her grandchildren, Chaz and Amanda Perry, Jessica, David, Angie and Larry Arnold; one great-great grandchild and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may visit at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, Thursday 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday Jan. 4, 2019 at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
