WASHBURN -- Leigh Nickerson, 72, died September 9, 1976, at a Ft. Fairfield hospital following a long illness. He was born in Nova Scotia, February 17, 1904, the son of Charles and Willmina (Sherwood) Nickerson. He attended the University of Maine, Orono, was a member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church, and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Annie (Pooler) Nickerson, Washburn; two sons, Norris, Jay, Steven, Ft. Fairfield; one daughter, Glenice Huston, Warrington, Va.; two brothers, Guy, Conn., Keith, Washburn; four sisters, Iva Howe, Washburn, Vera Nickerson, Portland, Gladys Hughes, Scarborough, Edith Soule, Buxton; 11 grandchildren. Friends may call at Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle, Friday, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Washburn Pentecostal Church Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. William Poole, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Extension Cemetery.
