BATTLE OVER THIS DIVORCE
----------------
Mrs. Harold Archer of Newport Contends Her Husband's Suit
----------------
The hearing of a contested divorce case occupied the entire time of Wednesday's session of the superior court. The libellant was Harold Archer of Newport, who charged his wife Lottie with adultery. The wife is contesting the divorce and her case will be presented today, showing the grounds for the contest.
The case has developed into a lengthy hearing, with many witnesses from out-of-town and a number of spectators. D. J. Gould appears for the husband and Ross St. Germain for the wife.
The libellant, who is a student at Suffolk Law School, Boston, and a brother of Gleason L. Archer, dean and founder of that institution, testified at length concerning alleged improprieties of his wife, naming seven correspondents and reciting picturesque details of his experiences and observations at Great Pond, where the couple had lived much of the time since their marriage in 1914 and just prior to his departure in January, 1926, for Boston to enter the Suffolk School. Other places of their residence were Bangor, Old Town, Milford and Newport.
It was rumored on Wednesday that the defense would introduce sensational new testimony.
