PENOBSCOT -- Florence R. Dyer, 73, formerly of Belfast, went home to be with the Lord, Nov. 7, 2003, at Penobscot Nursing Home with her family by her side. Florence was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Monroe, the daughter of Perley and Mildred Davis Ravin.
Florence married Harry Dyer Sr. on Nov. 4, 1948, who died Aug. 13, 1977. She loved to play Beano, spend time with her family and spend the weekend going to yard sales.
She is survived by two sons, Harry A. Dyer Jr. of Bangor, and Harold C. Dyer and wife, Cathy, of Belfast; seven sisters, a special sister, Margaret Harvey, Bernese Barstow, Viola Welch, Betty Moulton, Christine Grant, Beatrice Hustus and Doris Cook; seven grandchildren, Harry III, Thomas, Jolene, Phillip, Misty, Amanda and Henry; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Earlwin Ravin; her step-father, Robert Hanson; and a close friend of 16 years, David Rumney of Penobscot.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Rackliffe Funeral Home, with Rev. Reynolds officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Rackliffe Funeral Home. Burial at Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Rackliffe Funeral Home, 54 Church St., Belfast.
