WARREN, R.I. -- Joyce E. (Shorey) Miller, 74, of Warren, R.I., passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at Orchard View Manor Nursing Home, East Providence, R.I. She was born and raised in Unity, the daughter of the late Clyde E. and Manilla B. (Reynolds) Shorey.
A resident of Warren, R.I. for many years, she previously resided in Unity before moving to Rhode Island. She was a rubber and piece worker for three years for Transcom, Inc. of Middletown, R.I., retiring in 1985. Previously she worked at the former, Bristol Manufacturing, Converse Rubber Co. and the former PF Industries all of Bristol for 30 years.
She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Clyde Norman Shorey; and a sister, Cleo H. Graham. She is survived by her husband, Leo F. Miller of Warren, R.I.; a daughter, Donna Nelson of Warwick, R.I.; three sons, Anthony Raposa of Hanson, Mass., Bryan Gordon of North Providence, R.I. and Romeo Gordon of East Providence, R.I.; four brothers, Robert E. Shorey of Fairfield, Glendon E. Shorey of Warren, R.I., Aaron L. Shorey of Warren, R.I. and Arnold Shorey of Nolanville, Texas; three sisters, Virgie E. Reis of Norridgewock, Velma E. MacDonald of China Lake and Maxine L. Gecawich of Bristol, R.I.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 1-3 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2001 at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, R.I. Visiting hours 10-12 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Corner of Main and Depot St., Unity, with a graveside service to follow at Pond Cemetery.
Joyce married Maurice Herbert Gordon Sr., son of Darius Hanson and Ruby Geneva Merry, on 13 Sep 1941 in Freeport, Cumberland, Maine, United States.
