William N. Raven, of Wade Plantation of whom mention was made in last week's issue as being seriously ill, died at the home of Joseph Pooler Saturday morning. Mr. Raven was born in Dover, England, in 1825 and came to this country at the age of 17 on a British man-of-war, residing here ever since. Mr. Raven used to be quite an extensive lumberman some 15 or 20 years ago, but since that time has followed farming. He was a member of the church and a man of integrity. The remains were taken to the Wright school-house Monday afternoon where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Nathan Currie after which they were deposited in the cemetery at Woodland Centre. The deceased leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn their loss.


William married Hannah Jane Hanson.
