She was born on May 30, 1928, in Castine, ME, to Leon and Ella (Morey) Bakeman. Nora was a hardworking, energetic woman who cared for her family. She was very giving, had a great sense of humor and loved a good adventure. Nora married, had three children and moved away from Castine. During that time her parents became ill, Nora moved back home with her children to care for her parents and her disabled sister, Alice. While back home Nora worked hard to provide for her family. She along with her sister, Myra, were the caretakers of the Castine Cemetery for many years. Nora then went to work for David Hatch painting homes in Castine. In later years Nora married Edward (Brock) Brockelbank of Plum Island. Together they owned and operated The Butterfly Shop in Orland, Maine. Nora's hobbies included gardening, hunting, clam digging, berry picking, beano, and baking. Her pies were always a treat for her family and neighbors. Nora will be deeply missed by her family. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Brockelbank; sisters, Myra, Julia, Lurena, Bessie, Francis, and Alice; brothers, Woodrow, Norwood, and Earl; daughter, Delores Gilley; son, Dale Gordon; and granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Sawyer. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Cote and her husband, Marc, of South Portland; sister, Lena Bakeman of Bucksport; grandchildren, Susan Lelansky and her husband, Matt, of South Portland, Dawn Gross of Westbrook, and Todd Gilley and his wife, Gina, of Newport; great-grandchildren, Nick, Victoria, Lyndsey, Ashley, Patrick, Gabe, Teagan, and Mia; great-great-grandchildren, Hope, Matthew, Jared, Maddie, Emma, Rae, and Gabe; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service in Castine will be announced in the spring. Nora's family would like to thank the staff at Fallbrook Woods for the loving care they have provided for the last three and a half years as well as the Gosnell House for her end of life care.
