PRESQUE ISLE -- Lewis Anderson Willard, 90, died Oct. 11, 2002, at Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center, Brewer. He was born April 22, 1912, in Oxbow, the son of Warren and Maybell (Anderson) Willard.
He was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and the Aroostook Normal School, now UMPI. After teaching school briefly, he began his 50 year career with New York Life Insurance Co. On Dec. 23, 1941, he married Viola "Pinkie" Powers and they lived in Presque Isle until her death in 1990. Lewis enjoyed working in his garden and took great pride in the flowers and vegetables that he produced. He was a charter member of the Presque Isle Country Club and spent many enjoyable hours with Pinkie playing golf. He was a member of the Presque Isle Congregational Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Willard Young of Brewer; a nephew, Willard Hall and his wife, Kathy of Bucksport; and a niece Harriet Hall of Orland. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Lois Hall in 2000.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at Fairmount Cemetery Presque Isle with the Rev. Robert Grove-Markwood officiating. Friends who wishmay donate in Lewis' memory to a charity of their choice. Arrangements by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
