• Obituary: Bangor Daily News, 1 Mar 2005, Bangor, ME. SEARSMONT \endash Thomas LeeRoy McCafferty, 69, of Searsmont died Feb. 25, 2005. He was taken care of at home under Hospice care surrounded by his loving family. He fought his illness with dignity and is now with his Lord. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 711. He was predeceased by his father, Hugh Henry McCafferty; mother, Yvonne McCafferty; son, Michael McCafferty; great-grandson, Hayden Greco; and several aunts and uncles. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Nancy; his sons, Mark L. McCafferty of Searsmont, and John A. McCafferty of Searsmont; his daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Tim Woods of Knox, Lorri and Kenneth Curtis of Searsmont; his grandchildren, Maranda McCafferty of Belfast, Justin Greco of Buckfield, Codey Woods of Knox, Michael Curtis of Searsmont, John McCafferty of Searsmont and Zacharie McCafferty of Fairbanks, Ala.; as well as nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends, Mike Richards, Farley Weeks, Bunk Edgecomb, Jim Cox, Joe Cox and Bob Cunningham. Donations can be made to the Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, 170 Pleasant St, Rockland, ME 04841. Arrangements are under the care of the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.

• Newspaper Article: The Lewiston Daily Sun, 15 Apr 1958, Lewiston, ME. RUMFORD -- Miss Nancy E. Abbott became the bride of Thomas Leroy McCafferty in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Fr. Laurent O. Patenaude at an 8 a.m. Mass, April 8, at the St. John's Church. The bride is the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emile Cote, East Rumford, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Henry McCafferty, Kimball Ave., Mexico. Traditional wedding music was played by Prof. Arthur Beaudet, who accompanied the soloist while she sange "Ave Maria" and "Mother, At Thy Feet We're Kneeling." The Child of Mary ceremony was used with Miss Marguerite Cote the bride's maid-of-honor retiring the bride from the order. The altar was beautifully decorated with cut flowers. The bride, who was given in marriage by Emile Cote, was lovely in a ballerina length gown of white lace over taffeta, fashioned with a fitted bodice, and short puffed sleeves; a bouffant skirt with large taffeta bow and streamers to neck-line. Her chapel-length veil was caught to an ivory tiara headpiece and she carried a whtie missal, topped by a corsage of sweetheart roses and a mother-of-pearl rosary, both gifts from her bridegroom. Miss Marguerite Cote attended as maid-of-honor and the best man was John Richard, uncle of the bridegroom. Miss Cote wore a ballerina length gown of yellow lace with a matching hat of yellow net and spring flowers. She carried a colonial bouquet of white, yellow and orchid mixed flowers. Immediately following a wedding breakfast for members of the bridal party and their families was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents. The guest book was in charge of Jane McCafferty, sister of the bridegroom. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunlay, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McCafferty, Mr. and Mrs. Emile Cote, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hotham, Reme Cote, Marguerite Cote, James Cote, Richard Cote, Debbie and Marie Cote and the bride and groom. Mrs. Cote wore a black street length dress with white accessories, complimented by a corsage of red roses. Mrs. McCafferty wore a grey spring suit with white accessories and a corsage of roses. The bridal pair left on a short wedding trip, the bride traveling in a blue frosted silk polka dotted dress, with a black topper and white accessories. Mrs. McCafferty was educated in Freeport schools, graduating from high school. She also attended the Auburn School of Commerce and has been employed at the local United Stores. Mr. McCafferty attended Mexico public schools and St. Athanasius School. He has been inducted into the U.S. Army and following his boot training will be joined by his bride; meanwhile she will make her home with the Cote family. The bride's gifts to her attendants were a pearl necklace, earrings and bracelet set; a sterling silver mounted rosary to her bridegroom. The best man received a leather men's jewelry case with billfold and key ring.
