Unity -- On November 4, 2022 Alice Evelyn Gordon went home to be with her Lord. She was born to Frank Haskell and Amy (Bucklin) Haskell, November 21, 1921, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She grew up in Kittery and attended Shapleigh School in her early years and three years at Traip Academy. Her father built and owned a garage and a small store named Kittery Trading Post. She belonged to Portsmouth Women's Rifle Club when she was 14-15 and was a marksman.
Her family relocated in Unity, Maine in 1938 where she graduated from Unity High School in 1939.
On June 17, 1939, she married the love of her life Ralph George Gordon. Together they raised six children: Herbert, Emily Potter, Janice, Nancy Smith, Pauline and David. They were married 47 years until the time of his death in 1986.
For many years Alice was a member and musician for Quaker Hill Church. More recently she was a member and musician for Faith Community Church in Unity.
Alice was a member of Favori Rebekah's of Unity. Monroe and Belfast holding the offices of District Deputy, Past Noble Grand, Secretary and musician. Music was an important part of her life. She worked for Redi Peel Potato for 16 years. She served as President of Unity Senior Citizens and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a plane spotter during WWII.
She worked on crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, scrabble, loved family gatherings and was a HUGE Red Sox fan.
Surviving are her children, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and grandson Ralph Potter Jr.
A huge thank you to Kindred Hospice for their loving care of mom and their support throughout the last few days of her life. Thank you to Pastor Paul Keller of Faith Community Church, his wife Sandy and mom's church family for visits, prayer, cards, and flowers.
A memorial service for the family and the church family will be at 1pm on November 20, 2022, at Faith Community Church.
All are invited to the graveside service and burial at Unity Pond Cemetery at 2:30pm followed by refreshments and conversation at Faith Community Church.
