Kenneth E. Carson, 74, of the East Thorndike Road, Thorndike, died Sunday, Oct. 9 at a Waterville hospital following a long illness.
 He was born in Belfast Dec. 22, 1919, the son of George and Addie Lou (Gordon) Carson.
 He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific.
 For many years he was a poultry Farmer in Unity. He was also proprietor of the C & L store in Burnham for several years.
 He was past commander, finance officer and chaplain of Benjamin Berry American Legion Post, Unity. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
 He is survived by his wife Audrey L. (Oakes) Carson of Thorndike whom he married in 1938. He is also survived by three daughters, Carol Johnson of Brooks, Mrs. Roger (Gloria) Lancaster of Unity and Mrs. James (Shirley) Curtis of Knox; four sons, Richard Carson of Lewiston, Robert and wife Rojean of National City, Calif., Charles and wife Carole Carson of Montville, and Joseph and his wife Karen Carson of Knox; sisters, Mrs. Frank (Doris) Curtis of Unity; Florence Bragdon of Searsport, and Mrs. Norman (Alice) Nadeau of Old Town; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother, LeRoy Carson, and two sisters, Mabel Ogden and Ada Boulter and one grandson, Robert E. Carson.
 Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, corner of Main and Depot streets, Unity, with Rev. Elizabeth Cole officiating.
 Burial was in the Center Yard, East Thorndike.
 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benjamin Berry Post American Legion or the Church of God Prophecy in care of the funeral home.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 2 at a combined reception with their son, Robert and his bride Rojean Carson, at the Snowdusters clubhouse in Unity.Ken and Audrey were married July 5, 1938 at his father's home in Thorndike by Rev. George Bolstridge.
 About 120 friends and relatives joined in Ken and Audrey's celebration. They received many gifts, cards and a money tree. The affair was arranged by their children, Carol Johnson of Brooks, Richard Carson of North Leeds, Gloria Lancaster of Unity, Robert Carson of National City, Calif., Shirley Curtis of Knox, Charles Carson of Montville and Joseph Carson of Knox. Ken and Audrey have seven children, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 A beautiful cake was made by Ken's sister, Doris Curtis, and served by Audrey's sister, Beverly Rollins. The guest book was tended by granddaughters, Tanya Johnson and Lorri Curtis.
 The eldest guest attending was Kenneth's uncle, John Merry, 92, from Bangor. The youngest guest was granddaughter, Staci Carson, 21 months, from Knox.
