• Obituary: Bangor Daily News, 1 Mar 1991, Bangor, ME. OXBOW PLANTATION -- Pearle I. Howes, 89, died Feb. 27, 1991, at a Caribou nursing home. She was born in Oxbow, Nov. 7, 1901, the daughter of Frank and Eva (Willard) Howes. She was a lifetime resident of Oxbow, where she was self-employed for many years as a school bus driver from Oxbow to Ashland, operated a taxi service, and also delivered mail. She enjoyed raising and training riding horses. Miss Howes was a member of the Oxbow Congregational Church. She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 37 Exchange St., Ashland, from 12 noon until time of services on Saturday. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas L. Caton officiating. Spring interment will be in Willard Cemetery, Oxbow. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Oxbow Congregational Church, care of Maurice Anderson, Oxbow 04764.
