UNITY -- Frank Daniel Curtis, 83, of Unity passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at a Bangor health care facility.
He was born and raised in Jackson on Oct. 11, 1920, the son of Albert and Arlettie (Hamlin) Curtis. He had lived in Unity for the past 60 years. Frank was a farmhand for many years before going to work for the Belfast-Moosehead Railroad as track foreman for the Unity -Burnham line. He was a lifetime member of the Unity Fire Department. Frank also enjoyed caring for his garden and honeybees, hunting, and riding around in his truck.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Frank Curtis Jr.; his brothers and sisters, Martha Marden, Eva Palmer, Charles Curtis, Bertha Elwell, Joseph Curtis, Lettie Rosalie Herrick, Mark Curtis, Henry Curtis, Allen Curtis, Sylvina McCormick; and a half-brother, Frank Curtis.
Frank is survived by his wife, Doris (Carson) Curtis; a son, Larry Curtis and his wife, Bette, of Unity; four brothers, Irving Curtis of Burnham, Robert Curtis and his wife, Ellen, of Brooks, James Curtis and his wife, Margaret, of Thorndike, and Francis Curtis and his wife, Marie, of Connecticut; five grandchildren, William Carleton, Roxanna Curtis, Angela England, Belinda Testerman and Seja Esancy; 10 great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend, John Rollison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow at Pond Cemetery, Unity.
Frank married Doris Irene Carson, daughter of George Henry Carson and Addie Lou Gordon, on 24 Apr 1943 in Maine, United States.
