• Obituary: PenBay Pilot, 28 Mar 2023, Camden, ME. UNITY \emdash Larry E. Curtis, 75 of Unity, passed away peacefully with his family on March 24, 2023. He was born on August 1, 1947, in Waterville, Maine, the son of Frank and Doris (Carson) Curtis. Larry attended Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle, graduating with a degree in mechanics. In the early 70s he spent time racing at Unity Raceway. He worked at Pullen Ford for 27 years, and then in security at MBNA. After retiring Larry continued to work for Waldo County Oil and was a dedicated Fire Fighter at the Unity Fire Department for 52 years. Larry had a variety of hobbies which included hunting, camping attending New Hampshire Motor Speedway at Louden since the opening in 1990, Fryeburg Fair, raising money for the Unity Fire Department at the Common Ground Fair each year, and enjoying a Coca-Cola. In addition to his hobbies, something he was most passionate about was visiting with his family in Tennessee, seeing Dollywood, and Gatlinburg, enjoying some Smoky Mountain Moonshine, and NASCAR. Larry will be remembered for his limitless dedication to his family as well as being a compassionate, intelligent man who loved to share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Frankie Curtis; and granddaughter Rachael Curtis. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Bette Curtis of Unity; Angela England and husband Willie of Sevierville, Tennessee, Belinda Testerman and husband Doug of Rockford, Tennessee, William Carleton and wife Kirby of Unity, Maine, Roxanne Curtis and husband Jeff of Unity, Maine, and Sarah Esancy and partner Brian Morgan of Palmer, Massachusetts; grandchildren Will and Brandon England, Morgan LeBlanc and Brian Testerman, Alex Prescott and Cassandra Carleton, Jeffery Curtis and Erin Curtis; great-grandchildren Arenna, Lily, Weston, Eli, Alice, Madelyn, Joshua, Elsie, Waylon, Amelia, Parker, Carter, Aiden; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family are invited for visiting hours Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, with a funeral service Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Unity Union Church.
