CARIBOU and LEWISTON -- Glenwood A. Wilcox, 56, died unexpectedly July 18, 1988, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born at Caribou, Jan. 12, 1932, the son of William and Evelyn (Pooler) Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox was a graduate of Caribou High School and the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He had taught school in many area communities. Prior to his retirement several years ago, he had been employed by the Maine State Department of Education and Cultural Services. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 178 of Lewiston. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was also a member of several computer clubs. He married Rose Marie Briggs on April 8, 1977. Surviving besides his wife of Lewiston, are one son, Danny Wilcox of Vermont; two daughters, Deborah Bectel and Carrie Pont, both of Lewiston; two brothers, Joseph Wilcox of Lewiston and Don[sic] Soucy of Connecticut; one sister, Marie Newell of Lewiston; three grandsons, Moe Cloutier, Judson and Broden Wilcox; one granddaughter, Jennifer Cloutier; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. Stacy Meister officiating. Interment will be in Woodland cemetery.
