SWANVILLE -- John H. Merry, Jr., 64, died at a Bangor hospital, Dec. 13, 1985. He was born in Thorndike, June 13, 1921, the son of John H and Sadie (Dyer) Merry. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a mess sergeant in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was employed at local shoe factories and later at his own retail seafood business. He is survived by his father, John H. Sr., of Bangor; his wife Barbara of Swanville; two sons, Bryce of Coos Bay, Ore., and John III of Honolulu, Hawaii; three brothers, Earl of Searsport, Elwood and Ervin, both of Belfast; four sisters, Ruthie Robbins of Belfast, Marie Opdahl of Monroe, Ina Moulton of Knox, and Millie Sylvester of Searsport; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Full Gospel Church, Searsport, at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Cliff Gall officiating. Burial will be in Smart Cemetery, Belfast. Friends may call at Young's Funeral Home, Searsport 7-8 p.m. Monday.
