BELFAST -- Sadie J. Merry, 74, died Friday, Nov. 16, at a Belfast nursing home following a long illness. She was born at Knox April 30, 1899, the daughter of Edgar and Anna (Dolloff) Dyer. She was a member of the Searsport Full Gospel Church. She had resided at the Bradbury Nursing Home at Belfast for several years. Survivors include four sons, Earl J. Merry of Searsport, John H. of Swanville, and Elwood L. and Ervin E., both of Belfast; four daughters, Mrs. Alex (Marie) Opdahl of Monroe, Mrs. Irving (Ina) Moulton of Knox, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Sylvester of Searsport, and Mrs. Herman (Ruth) Robbins of Belfast; three half-brothers, Harry, Robert and Lewis Dyer, all of Belfast; 30 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Searsport Full Gospel Church Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m., the Rev. Robert Brown of that church officiating. Friends may call at the Coombs Funeral Home, Belfast, Saturday afternoon and evening. Burial will be in the family lot at the East Thorndike Cemetery.

Sadie married John Herbert Merry Sr., son of Herbert Leslie Merry and Selena Irene Raven, on 26 Oct 1917 in Belfast, Waldo, Maine, United States. (John Herbert Merry Sr. was born on 8 Mar 1895 in Woodland, Aroostook, Maine, United States, died on 23 Jul 1993 in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States and was buried in Thorndike Center Cemetery, Thorndike, Waldo, Maine, United States.)
