KNOX -- Ina Florence (Merry) Moulton, 88, went to her heavenly home Oct. 22, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 7, 1922, in Swanville, the daughter of John and Sadie (Dyer) Merry.
She attended school in Belfast. She moved her family to Thorndike in 1954 with her husband, Irving. Together they raised three sons and five daughters. She attended church throughout her life, most recently Brooks Pentecostal. Our mom was a special person, opening her home to family and friends, providing delicious meals to anyone who'd stop to visit. At Christmastime her home was filled with fun and laughter, all anticipating her special treats of popcorn balls, needhams, fudge and punch. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, and going for rides, especially when she ended up at a yard sale, which was her favorite pastime. Mom was always warm and gentle, kind and caring, selfless and humble. She taught many lessons and warmed many hearts. She was very proud of and deeply loved her family, and her family deeply loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Irving; brothers, Earle, John and Elwood Merry; and sister, Marie Opdahl. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Norman and Betty Moulton of Belfast, Reggie and Lola Moulton of Florida, and Gary and Lee Moulton, also of Florida; five daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Roy Greeley of Knox, Beverly and Paul Davis of Exeter, Gail Moulton of Stockton Springs, Cheryl and Edgar Ashey of Searsport, and Pam and Jeffrey Buxton of Hampden; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Millie and husband, Lloyd Sylvester, of Searsport and Ruthie Robbins of Belfast; a brother, Ervin and Faustina Merry of Belfast; and sisters-in-law, Delores Merry, Hazel Merry, Barbara Davis and Martha Tweedie.
Family and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Brooks Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Matt Shaw officiating. Burial will be afterward at Center Cemetery, Thorndike. At Ina's request, those who wish may make donations in her memory to Brooks Pentecostal Church, 178 Monroe Highway, Brooks, ME 04921.
