GEORGE GORDON THORNDIKE -- George C. Gordon, 81, died Saturday in a Belfast nursing home. He was born here Nov. 28, 1886, the son of Leslie and Mary (Gordon) Gordon. He was the widower of Mrs. Ruby (Mary[sic]) Gordon. Surviving are four sons, Maurice of Portland, Alvah of Belfast, Harold of Freeport, and Ralph of Unity; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Seekins of Freeport; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Village Church with the Rev. S. G. Hilyard officiating. Burial will be in the Knox Station Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brazier Funeral Home, Brooks, Monday. George married Ruby Geneva Merry, daughter of Herbert Leslie Merry and Selena Irene Raven, on 4 Nov 1916 in Belfast, ME.1 (Ruby Geneva Merry was born on 28 Jul 1898 in Woodland, ME,8 9 died on 20 Oct 1984 in Brunswick, ME and was buried in Gray Village Cemetery, Gray, ME.)
