UNITY -- Harold Eslie Gordon, 90, of Unity, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015. He was born in Brooks, on July 31, 1925, the son of George and Ruby (Merry) Gordon. Harold grew up in Thorndike and then moved to Freeport, where he began work in the shoe factories there. He married Shirley Douglas and later moved back to Pittsfield where he worked as a supervisor in the shoe factory until he retired at the age of 70. He lived in Leisure Homes in Unity where he loved to work in his vegetable gardens, and gave most of it to his neighbors. Harold was a member of the Florence Scripture Spiritualist Church in Fairfield where he was a medium and healer. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Shirley; his sister, Hazel, and his brothers, Maurice and Ralph. Harold is survived by his son, George Gordon of Lewiston; his brother, Alvah "Red" Gordon of Belfast; his two grandchildren, Jason and Becky of Lewiston; and his nieces, Tina Hall and Mary Armstrong of Belfast. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at Webster Cemetery in Freeport with Harold's son, George Gordon officiating. Arrangements are Lawry Brothers, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
