CHARLESTOWN \emdash Virginia Poisson Pare passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 29, 2020. Born Nov. 30, 1949, she was a lifelong resident of Charlestown, New Hampshire. Virginia was a compassionate woman with a sense of resilience rarely seen. She cherished her family and her friends and worked hard to make sure everyone felt at home in her house. An amazing mother, wife and grandmother, she also had a beautiful relationship with her three siblings, Kris Fenderson, Joanne Reed and Barbara Stoodley, creating a bond that only strengthened over the years. Virginia was quite passionate politically and found great peace and fierce energy in her efforts to get out the vote. Virginia faced moments of struggle with grace and beauty, she had the ability to turn the hardest moments into points of comfort and transformation; she was nothing short of extraordinary. Virginia was a 1967 graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School. She married her first husband, Fred Poisson, that same year. Virginia worked for over 30 years as the secretary of the Charlestown Primary School and later helped Fred manage his business, PMH Sales. Fred and Virginia were married for 49 years until his death in 2017. In 2019, she married David Pare who passed away in February of this year. In recent years, Virginia was an active member of Union Episcopal Church in Claremont, New Hampshire. Virginia was also predeceased by her parents, Marjorie and Ernest Fenderson. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Blackwelder, her husband, John, and their three sons, Neal, Leo and Drew, of Lafayette, Colorado; her son, Fred Poisson Jr., his wife, Nichole, and their two children, Eben and Vina, her only granddaughter, of Eliot, Maine; as well as her three siblings, Kris Fenderson, Joanne Reed and Barbara Stoodley. She is also survived by two of her dearest friends who offered her endless love and support, Kathy Eames and Kendra Yakovleff; she valued these two women and the sisterhood they showed her, to an immeasurable degree. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Stringer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
