She was born in Canada, the daughter of Hugh and Elmira (King) McDermott, and had lived in this vicinity for about four months. She is survived by her husband and several children. Laney married Frank Alden Carson Sr., son of George Albert Carson and Selena Irene Raven, on 14 Apr 1907 in Mapleton, ME.1 2 The marriage ended in divorce on 18 Apr 1924. Dunn of Oronoa divorce case deferred from the April term on account of illness of the libellant. The case was Laney E. Carson vs. Frank A. Carson, Thorndike parties. The divorce was granted on account of extreme cruelty. The care and custody of their minor children, Ellen E., Selma A., Laney E., Edith M., Frank A., and Zelma B., were given to the mother and the father was to see them on suitable occasions.
