WATERVILLE -- William E. (Bub) Raven Sr., 72, of Thorndike, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at a Waterville nursing home.
 He was born in Knox, July 15, 1928, the son of William H. and Pearl N. (Carmichael) Raven.
 He attended schools in Knox and Freedom. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged April 19, 1948, with the rank of private first class.
 He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
 He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Seth and Carl Raven, and a sister, Alfreda Moore. Survivors include his children, William E. Raven Jr. and his wife Juanita of Unity, Sally of Boston, Douglas and his wife Lorie of Thorndike, Cindy Potter and her husband Mark of Canaan, Kevin Raven and his wife Debbie of Casco, Sandy Turner of Newport, Seth Raven and his wife Candice of Waldo and Jeff Raven of Thorndike; brothers, John Raven of Yarmouth, Daniel Raven of Thorndike, and Merle Raven of Augusta; sisters Ethel Pattee of Brooks, Ferne Thompson of Machias, Mable Larrabee of Thorndike, Lila Bryant of Knox, Edith Porter of Brooks, Judy Porter of Thorndike, and Minnie Raven of Thorndike; 19 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
 At his request there will be no services.
 Cremation will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.

 Arrangements are by the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, corner of Main and Depot streets, Unity.
