WINTHROP -- Mrs. Mattie A. Knowles, 79, died May 22 in Augusta. A former resident of Monroe and Brooks, she had resided in Winthrop for the last eight years. She is survived by two sons, Martin of Rockland and Kenneth of Winthrop; one brother, William Raven of Thorndike; three sisters, Mrs. Lila Scott of Brewer, Mrs. Hazel Woodbury of Lincoln, Mrs. Dorothy Moody of Belfast; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Robert Funeral Home in Winthrop. Burial will be in Cambridge.
