FREEDOM -- Burleigh C. Raven Sr., 72, died March 27, 1991, at a Bradenton, Fla. hospital after a long illness. He was born in Freedom, April 12, 1918, the son of Ernest and Ellura Raven.
He was educated in Freedom schools. He was well-known as a strawberry farmer for more than 40 years. He was also well-known for his custom-built kitchen cabinets which he built in his own workshop. His wife of 40 years, Mae (Ward) Raven, died in 1983. He is survived by his present wife, Adele Raven, whom he married in 1984. He is also survived by four sons, Ernest Raven of South Carolina, Dennis Raven of Delta Junction, Alaska, Burleigh C. Raven Jr. of Clinton, Brian Raven of Freedom; one daughter, Waneta Raven of Albion; one brother Floyd Raven of Freedom; two sisters, Hester Pottle of Benton and Thelma Seaman of Litchfield.
Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, corner of Main and Depot Street, Unity.

Mr. and Mrs. Oley B. Ward of Freedom announce the marriage of their daughter, Mae Louise, to Burleigh Erwin Raven, son of Mrs. Vra[sic] and the late Ernest Raven of Freedom. The marriage took place Saturday evening at the home of the officiating clergyman, the Rev. Nelson Miles Heikes of Albion. Mrs. Raven attended the Freedom schools and has been employed in Bath. Mr. Raven was graduated from Freedom academy and is employed in defense work. They will reside in New Jersey, where Mr. Raven has employment.
