Mildred Hattie Gardner, 74, of Lake Alfred died Friday at Winter Haven Hospital. A native of Dixmont, Maine, she lived in the area of six years, moving from Connecticut. She was a homemaker and a member of Congregational Church in Ellington, Conn. She is survived by her husband, Russell E.; four sons, Carroll J. of Winter Haven, Richard R. of Lake Alfred, Joseph E. of Plainfield, Conn., and Michael R. of Scotia, N.Y.; a daughter, Alice J. Drew of Masardis, Maine; two sisters, Myrtle Sperry of North Lebanon, Maine, and Madelene Earl of Oxbow, Maine; three brothers, William and Fred Whipple, both of Oxbow, and Joseph Whipple of Ashland, Maine; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
